Made Without Gluten - Free Pizza Tasting

Gluten free pizza

Ever since we’ve opened (and even before), people have been asking us if our pizzas are gluten-free. Unfortunately, our standard base is not, as it contains some wheat flour as well as the cornmeal.

However, we’ve been working hard on our “made without gluten” pizza, and we’re now looking for some guinea pigs to taste test the fruits of our endeavours. We’ll be offering the pizza to try for free this Tuesday (17th August 2010) at 6.30pm. Places are limited though, so please get in touch (email rich@ottopizza.co.uk) if you want to be involved.

To help us perfect the pizza, we teamed up with b-tempted – the gluten free bakery and winner of two Gold Awards in the UK Great Taste Awards – to make a base that we believe is the best out there. As well as the free pizza, b-tempted also have some gluten-free goodie bags for everyone who comes along, containing a smorgasbord of delicious gluten-free cakes

Why “Made Without Gluten”?

Although we don’t use any gluten in the recipe, we don’t have a separate dedicated gluten-free kitchen, so we cannot guarantee the pizza is gluten free.

Are all of the pizzas available?

We hope so. We’ve been checking through the raw ingredients to ensure that they are all ok, but some of our suppliers haven’t yet been able to confirm whether or not their products contain gluten. We’d hope they don’t (it’s not naturally occuring in any of them), but we want to be sure before we start selling them!

Can anyone come?

Yes, though obviously we’d prefer it if our taste testers cannot eat gluten. However, spaces are limited, so book a place as you won’t be able to just turn up.

When will the pizzas be available?

As long as we get a positive response, we hope to put our made without gluten pizzas on the menu after the tasting. Watch this space!
